In the article "The New Face of America," Veronica Majerol brought up an interesting fact about Americas population. Last spring Census Burea announed that a shift in our nation has risen. The birth of minorites are out numbering the white.
The manority of the population is made up of with Hispanic, African American,, American Idiana, Native American, Asian, Pacific Islander, and Alaska Native.
Facts have been added to the shift. First, in 30 years the immigration for the U.S. has been highest in countries of Mexico, China, Idiana, and the Phillipines.
The Immigration Act in 1965 opened opportunities for immigrants.Second , the minorities have a higher birth rates than whites.
The idea that you're Hispanic and you can marry someone that's Asian, what does that mean to a couple of generations down the road?" asks Frey. There is a rise in muliracial and muliethnic in America.
Finally, the white population in theU.S. are older and are not haveing alot of children. Sice Lations are becoming bigger in population the demographics are pressuring both major parties.
They have to start adressing their concerns to minorities espically Hispanics.
" I think the 2012 presidental election gives us a sneek peek on what's going to happen in the presidential elections ahead and Hispanics are going to have more to say."By 2030, the number of Hispanic voters could rise to 40 million.
By 2020, whites will likely make up less than half of the under 18 population.
This is great. America is becoming a huge mixing pot. Bring different cultures to the talbe of knowledge.
What is so wrong with that? This is the 21st Century people not the 13th Century. Get over the black and white days. Now the days are blue, red, green, and purple. When I was younger I hung around all types of cultures and learned alot of different things.
Why would you not want to broaden your horizen ? Itsn' this a cultural world we live in ? Why would people deny that America needs diversions to make it appeal to other countries?
Have we not left our past of pain or de we still want to be reminded of Americas "race problem".

Forgiving Lance Armsrtong
In the article "Give Lance another chance?" CNN asks wether views should give Lance Armstrong for using perfomance-enhanced drugs. There are people who agree to forgive and others who don't. Frida Ghitis says that Lance has a chance to redeem himself.
She says "His dept and atonement are not limited to the cycling or to sports." Randy Cohen said that all bigtime cyclist should doped confess. "If many cycling fans are right, most of the top riders engaged in doping," said Randy Cohen.
Roxanne Jones said he's not trustworthy. She commented "No, gets no second change from me. There are to many reasons to question his apology."
Kevin Powells said that we all have flaws. He stated" So, yes I do think anyone can be redeemed, and should another chance if he shows true remorse for his bad deeds."Shawn Klein says that cooperation can reduce a ban for lifteime.
Klein said" If Armstrong is sincerely contrite and forthright in his apology, most prople, including myself, will forgive him for his use of prohibited drugs."Everbody maskes mistakes. We're human we are inclined to mess up.
Lance Armstrong should be forgiven but he doesnt need to back in cycling. I agree with Kevin Powells when he says" But I am not a here to judge nor cinvist him." People who judge are people who made the biggest mistakes in life.
I often make mistakes in life and would want to be forgiven for them. As long as we recognize our mistakes and want to be forgiven from our hearts we should be forgiven. Lance Armstong deserve forgiveness.

Civil War in Syria
In the article " Civil war in Syria raises questions about when to intervene," Jan'nai Dalaney discuss the civil war in Syria and wether or not the U.S. should intervene. The fighting in the civil war over in syrian forced refuges to find movine to tents in close countries in only a short term solution sice they do not have any legal rights.
The parties involved in the civil war is the anti - regime protest and those who are loyal to the current prsident Bashar al -Assad. The ant - regime want to establish a democracy and this anti-regime includes Free Syrian Army, the Syrian Army and fighters across the region.
This also included most untrained men with deadly weapons. The people who support President Bashar al - Assad are well trained military with more advanced Military. The U.S. and it's allies support the anti - regime group and will not intervene unless Assad uses chemical weapons on the people.
The Assad supporters claims to have stores of chemical weapons and there are to be used against foreign invasions not its own people. Majority of the fighting is taking place in Aleppo, which is Syria's largest cities. To track violations, Amnesty international USA is using satellite to see destruction in the country. This will make it easier to identify war criminal once the fighting ceases.
We already have our hand in other pots that s doesn't need to be there so what's taken the US so long to help ? If the U.S gets involved will it be to late ? Are we doing it for our image or from our hearts ? After we help Syria will the people who lost retaliate ? What will we do then ? Someone needs to plan this out carefully before we go rushing in head first ?

More Play Time
In the article " All work and no play : Why your kids are more anxious, depressed," Esther Entin says that children with sortened playtime can have long-term consequences.
The play decline can stop children from developing into competent and confident adults. Peter Gray P.h.D professor of psychology beleves that " lack of childhood free playtime is huge loss that must be addressed for the sake of our children and society."
He believes that mothers are apart of the reason playtime is sortened. Mothers responed and said it was for saftey reasons. Gray provides five benifits for more playtime.
He states that playtime provides a foundation for their future. Grey believes that " learning to get along and cooperate with others as equal may be the most crucial evoltionary function of human society." Gray's first benifit is that playtime gives children a chance to develop a connection to their own sel-identified interests.
He notes " kids learn to direct themselves and pursue and elaborate on their inmterests in a way that can substain throughout life." Another benifit he provided is that through playtime children lern to " make decisions , solve problems, exert self control, and follow rules.
He said " As children direct their own free playtime and solve the ploblems that come up, the must exert self control over themselves .... "
Another benifit Gray provides is that children makes friends and learn to treat as each others as equal. He says " social play is a natural means of making friends and learning to treat others fairly."
Another benifit is that children learn to control their emotions. Gray states " In playtime, children put themselves into both physically and socially challenging situation and learn to control the emotions that arise from the stressors."
The last beifit is that play is a source of happiness. He says " we have not taken way joys of free time, but replaced it with emotionally stressful activites."
In this article they conclude that less playtime can lead to depression and anxiety. This is a huge leap between the two. My little brother dosent have as mush playtime as he used to because of the saftey issues.
This Gray guy doesnt mention one thing about saftey only about free this and free that but not about the dangers of more free time. I didnt have as mush free time and im not depressed.

The Closing of schools
In the article " Philadelphia superintendent identifies
schools he intends to close"' Kristen A. Graham discuss the superintendent
reasons and the outcomes of closing down so many schools. They released a
number on Thursday that is staggering and considered the largest reduction of
the Philadelphia Scholl District. Thirty-Seven school buildings are closings
and all closings decisions a has made two goals-" boosting throughout the
district and ensuring it's long-term viability," said superintendent
William R. Hite Jr.
The closing of the schools will save about $28 million. The
Philadelphia school district recently borrowed $300 million just to pay bills.
" If we don’t take these actions now, we will actually no money to
spend," Hite said. Academics are also a major factor in schools closing.
The District is struggling academically. Eighty-two percent missed the standard
testing mark on math and/or reading.
There are those who oppose the closing of so many schools
and suggest that the school closings are a tactic to weaken or destroy the public
system. Jerry Jordan, the president of the Philadelphia Federation of Teacher
accused the district of trying to "kill the neighborhood public
schools."
I can understand the saving money part but what I don’t
understand is cramping schools together will solve what ? It only makes the
class rooms bigger and more crowded but they are supposedly laying off teachers
in the process as well. They are not giving these schools more scrutiny because
a lot of teenager’s these days have huge fights against certain schools.
For example what if
they close Germantown High school and merge them in Martin Luther King . That
will cause complete turmoil. My cousin attends Germantown High school and
always talks about the fights between schools.
